Nice, reasonably heavy product. A bit lighter than "industrial" but will do the trick. If you need a gooseneck like this, you will not be disappointed.

LG Washer SteamWasher Front Load, 4.2 Cu Ft - White Review

LG Washer SteamWasher Front Load, 4.2 Cu Ft - White

After our cheap-o washing machine and dryer broke down, we decided to make a Black Friday purchase and get both the dryer and washing machines from Best Buy. My husband and I researched the heck out of what was available on the market. We compared features, cleaning options, and prices. I came across one site that had over 1700 reviews for this machine alone - the average review was a 5 out of 5.
I could not be happier with the products. While it is true the washing cycle takes longer than a top load washer, the end result is amazingly different. The matching dryer seems to work more efficiently than our old one and makes up for the time difference between loads. My toddlers socks came out white and the dirt stains gone. Even some of the old stains were removed. There are a lot of fancy dials and sounds on the machine however once you get accustomed to the settings, it is very easy to use. The pre-wash and steam features are a nice bonus. I especially like the top area to load the soap and fabric softner. The load capability seems quite large to me. Several pairs of jeans, pants and tops can go in at once. While running, the machine is fairly quiet. This is a beneficial feature since our laundry room is located in the center of our home. Is it wrong to fall in love with an appliance? If so, guilty as charged. Now if only they could automate the folding process I would be in heaven!!

These do a very good job of isolating the washer and dryer vibrations from the rest of the house. They are very heavy, 100 lbs!!. They were a b...h to cut to size, finally had to use a handsaw. They are made of recycled rubber.

Rubber-Cal's heavy-duty recycled rubber floor mat is designed for high impact applications and abrasive conditions. Because this material is domestically made with 100% recycled rubber, this floor protector mat is both socially and ecologically responsible. Recycled rubber is a superior material for reducing noise, containing vibration, and absorbing shock from washing machines and other appliances. At 3/4 inch thick, our recycled rubber floor protector mats are thick enough to protect most floors from falling parts. In our warehouse, we protect our exterior asphalt floors by resting pallets weighing up to 2500lbs on these heavy duty floor protection mats. One of the biggest concerns commonly associated with rubber matting is its installation. This 3ft x 4ft anti vibration mat weighs roughly 100lbs and stays down under its own weight. There is no need for permanent adhesives!

Haier HLP23E Electronic 1-1/2-Cubic-Foot Touch Pulsator Top-Loading Portable Washing Machine Review

I live in a one-bedroom unit in a massive apartment building with 6 laundry machines in the basement. I did not buy this unit from Amazon but rather from a Chinese electronics dealer in my area. Haier is very popular in China and the machine came highly recommended by the dealer.
The dealer delivered it to me, set it up and away we went. I have had this unit for about a month and here are my comments:
1) The unit is quieter than a traditional laundry machine.
2) I have had no problems with balancing the machine or with water intake. It fills quickly so long as there is high water pressure. The machine balances itself by stopping and starting until the clothes are balanced.
3) The high water level can accommodate a lot of clothes. I do about 3 loads a week: shirts/undies, pants, and towels.
4)It uses a lot less soap than traditional washers (about half I would say)
5)The regular wash runs for about 45 mins which I found excessive. The quickwash runs for about 22 minutes and I find that my clothes are perfectly clean. I only use the regular wash for very soiled items.
6) My unit came with casters so I had no problem. You may also buy casters at the hardware store... the casters are fairly standard.
7) Hooking it up to the sink did require a trip to the hardware store but it was easy to find the adapter as I brought the intake hose with me.

Ideal for small apartments or homes with limited space, this portable washing machine connects to a sink in just five easy steps with the included quick-connect sink adapter. The appliance features a 1-1/2-cubic-foot tub that can accommodate loads both large and small, plus an electronic control panel with an LED display for simple operation. Choose from four wash cycles (soak, wash, rinse, or spin); four water-level settings (very low, low, medium, or high), depending on the size of the load; and six cycle programs (standard, heavy, gentle, quick wash, wash, or spin). It also provides a power "on/off" button, a "start/pause" button for starting or pausing the wash cycle, function indicator lights, a beep to signal the end of the cycle, and automatic shut-off after about 10 minutes. Leveling legs make it possible to stabilize the unit even if it sits on uneven ground, and its see-through top lid allows for checking in on the wash cycle at a glance. To ensure safety, the unit will not operate with the lid open. Accessories include a power-cord clip, a water inlet hose, a drain-hose outlet plug, a gooseneck drain hook, a drain hose clamp, a lint filter, and a water filter--both filters can be removed for cleaning as needed. Fully assembled, the CSA-approved washing machine measures 19-11/16 by 21-1/8 by 34-23/32 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

I tried my new washer for the first time today. I put in a comforter, set the temperature and cycle type, and pushed the button. There is no place to dial in what size load you have, as this machine "senses" your load size. Well, I guess it sensed wrong. When I took the comforter out, there were large parts of it that weren't even WET, much less clean. I mean, they weren't even slightly damp...bone dry. I've conacted GE and I'm awaiting their answer. If you can only do tiny loads of laundry in this "low water" washer, it really defeats the purpose of being energy efficient.

In past 2 years I have purchased 2 Avanti machines, each one lasts about 7-8 months before it breaks. and then warrenty runs out. As I spoke to customer service of Avanti, they say "its unfortunate that it breaks, sorry to hear that" you can get it fixed, yes machine costs around $300 and to fix is $200 with change. They appologize that they don't stand behind quality but there is nothing you can do, so if you want and ready to buy Avanti on a yearly basis , it most definately lasts a year, I called mechanic only 2 times to get it fixed within the 1st year.
other then that, Avanti machines have another exellent feather, each wash takes forever about 30-40 min considering it's a very small machine, so its implied for those who have $300/year to buy on yearly basis and those who have plenty of time to wait for each small wash. Another feature i would like to point out is leakage from the bottom, as mechanic said "it's manufactured like this" it's non fixable, so in other words, once the wash goes on it leaks downstairs, it ruins my floor but the best part, if you don't like your downstairs neighbor you definately give them a problem of leekage from top.
when you speak to customer service, they are great with their responses "sorry unfortunately nothing can be done"

Haier HLP21N 6.6-Pound Pulsator Wash with Stainless Steel Tub Review

Haier HLP21N 6.6-Pound Pulsator Wash with Stainless Steel Tub
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I estimate that I have used this washer for 4 loads each week since buying from J&R in early October, 2006. I live in a studio in New York and bought this one because (1) it has a sink adapter, which the front-loading 14.3-lb model didn't seem to include and (2) at 17.5 inches wide/deep, it fit through my bathroom door, which the front-loading 14.3-lb model (at 20.5 inches wide) wouldn't.
Out of the box, you have to install an included metal pan at the bottom. Install it so that it is convex: there's a reason that the legs are so high. One of the problems I had during installation was that one of the screws holding this metal pan to the body comes very close to a clamp holding the gooseneck drain tube as it exits the body. The clamp had fallen out of position, and the end of the screw is close to where the clamp goes. I don't think I was ever in danger of puncturing the drainage tube, but it's something to watch out for.
You need a place to hang the drainage tube, between 31.5 and 40 inches high. The machine cannot fill the tub with water to a height above the maximum height of the drainage path.
On my first two loads, I made a puddle of water on the ground. There were two reasons for this: the first time, the water supply hose was not tightened sufficiently at the machine end, and water dribbled out and behind the machine until I figured out what was going on. With that tightened (I used a wrench), there was no leak. On my second load, I put in too many clothes (more about that later) and there was a water-resistant nylon jacket on top. Just before the very first spin cycle, some water was cupped on that jacket and did not drain out with the wash water. When the tub started to spin, that water came out. I never loaded that many clothes into the washer again, and haven't had any spills since.
During a normal wash cycle, the machine does the following steps three times: fill, agitate, agitate, drain, spin, drain, spin, drain, spin. The second and third iterations are called the "rinse" cycle. Often, the water out of the drain is still bubbly after the second spin. (I use a quarter capful or less of All no-fragrance 3x liquid concentrate.) So, I run another rinse cycle. If the machine detects an unbalance condition during a spin, it will stop, fill the tub with water, and agitate in an attempt to redistribute the clothes before draining and spinning again. I think the machine does this two or three times before giving up and beeping ten times to alert the user of the unbalance condition.
During the agitation process, this machine tends to intertwine long or extended parts of clothing --- shirt sleeves and socks --- into braid-like knots, which often trigger the unbalance condition during the subsequent spin. For example, when I wash four or five long-sleeved shirts together, I always have to untie and separate two or three of the shirts where the sleeves have been twisted together. I think good washing is where the wash water can touch every surface of the clothes, and being tied together prevents this. These problems probably would not happen with a front-loading washing machine.
What is the capacity of this washer? Well, I would say:
2 bath towels; or
2 pairs of jeans or pants; or
2 sweatshirts and 1 pair of sweat pants; or
4 long-sleeved oxford shirts; or
6 small-size undershirts; or
8-12 medium-size boxer underwear.
That's at the "high" water level. You may be able to load more than that, but I think the clothes won't get as clean, and the machine will probably reach more unbalance situations.
I once tried to wash a terrycloth robe. The robe fit in the tub, but the machine always got to an unbalance condition when it tried to spin. I think it's sort of like trying to run a centrifuge with only one tube. Sometimes after the spin cycle I find a sock or a shirt stretched across the middle of the tub, instead of having been thrown centrifugally against the tub walls.
Using my DSC-P71 digital camera in the multi-burst 30 frames-per-second mode and a light and a dark shirt in the washer, I estimate the initial spin at 450 rpm (light shirt passed once every 4 frames) and a final spin at 780 rpm (light shirt passed about 6.5 times in 0.5 seconds - about once every other frame). If I hang the clothes in my studio (not in the bathroom), then they dry in about one day or less, depending on the humidity. It takes much longer if I hang them in the bathroom.
Update (November 2007): This machine is still running. After a year, here are my comments:
After getting tired of the drain tube clamp falling out, I made two small wedges out of a folded-up credit card to hold the clamp in place.
I made a third spill (and this one was a big one): once, the gooseneck drain hose came apart from the U-shaped drain-pipe hook. So, now I check that connection every week or so.
I always run an extra rinse cycle (or two). If I have time, during the spin cycles, I lower the drain tube to allow more sudsy water to drain out. (This is a high-maintenance tactic, though --- it can lead to floods if you're not careful.) Some types of clothes absorb and retain more water (and detergent) than others, and my skin is better after more of the detergent is rinsed out. You can take just-washed clothes from a standard washing machine and re-rinse them here to check how much detergent is left.
Update (April 2008): In the past two months, I have had two more major spills. Both times, it seems that the water-level sensor got stuck and failed to tell the inlet valve to shut off. When this happens, the water overflows the tub and comes out the bottom of the machine. (Usually, you hear a click when the water level is reached, and then the valve shuts off; but in these cases, the first click never occurs.)
Now that I live in an apartment building with a good laundry room, I use this washer mostly for small items: socks, underwear, undershirts.
Update (April 2009): It turned out that the water-level sensor had failed. The sign of impending failure is that the sensor will sometimes fail to close the valve when set to "high", but will always close at "low" and "medium" water levels. Then, "medium" will stop working and the valve will only close when the water level is set to "low". Since the manufacturer's warranty had expired, I had the part replaced under my credit-card-based extended warranty program. Haier suggested two authorized repair operators; one of them said that they didn't service this model. The other did, and charged $85 (diagnostic service call) plus $60 (labor) plus $21.52 (part). The part had to be ordered and took about five weeks (!) to arrive.

Perfect for a small apartment or dorm room, this compact pulsator washing machine will help save on money and time wasted at the laundromat. The machine's 1-1/5-cubic-foot stainless-steel tub holds up to 6-3/5 pounds of laundry, and it connects to the kitchen sink in just five steps thanks to the included quick-connect sink adapter. Even more, the washer's smart technology and electronic controls allow for selecting the wash setting and water level to ensure a perfect load every time. Choose from three water levels based on the size of the load--save water by choosing a lower level for smaller loads. The unit's standard wash cycles include normal, heavy duty, whites, soak, and delicate; its special wash cycles include hand wash, sanitary, and unique or exclusive. The washing machine delivers a maximum spin speed of 740 rpm and its cycle status lights, estimated time-remaining display, and end-of-cycle signal provide added convenience. Other thoughtful details include a removable lint filter, a side strap for easy mobility, and an adjustable leveling leg to balance the machine if it rests on uneven ground. Fill and drain hoses come included. The washing machine measures 17-1/4 by 17-19/32 by 29-29/32 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

Note: This is my review I gave on Home Depot's website.
I was accidentally given this machine by the store because it was boxed incorrectly. I got to use it for a 10 days while they got my correct machine in.
Others have made comments about the fill level of the machine. I would like to say that I never opened the lid during the wash or fill cycle to check the water levels I just followed the guide. On the inside of the lid there is a guide to inform you what fill point you find for small, medium and large loads. A side note that I find funny is that the dial has "Small, Medium and Super" settings, so I guess "Large" and "Super" are synonymous according to GE.
The washer does an excellent job of cleaning the clothes. They always smelled fresh and clean no matter what load level I had run. Additionally, the spin cycle does a great job of pre-drying the clothes. I never had a washer load balance issue while using because GE seems to have a layer of fluid to counterbalance the washer during the spin cycles. You can hear the fluid if you rock the machine slightly. It makes it sound like there is water in the machine when it is empty. So the positives are very clean clothes and nicely pre-dry clothes from the spin cycle, which you should expect from a washing machine.
Let's talk about the major negative to the washer, it's loud. This is the only sticking point that I have with it. The washer is not only loud running but the transition points from filling to shut off, starting the spin cycle all are accompanied by a "bang" sound. It was rather unnerving the first time I heard it and ran to check it out to see if something had broken but then heard the spin speeding up. Apparently this is a normal function and you shouldn't be worried about it. Our laundry area is right off the main hallway so if your laundry room is away from your living space then this may not be a problem for you.

I have a GE Hydrowash washer similar to this one and, while it gets clothes very clean, it does the most damage to clothes I've ever seen in a top loader.
So, I would warn against purchasing this type of washer. Clean is good, but the damage has been expensive!

All the things I wish I was. Seriously, this replaced our 27 year old Kenmore. The Kenmore
was a workhorse, but the Fisher and Paykel is light-years ahead of it. No need to set the
water level, the machine figures it out (you can override it if you wish). No need to set
the wash temperature, it's done for you (you can change its default). Unbalanced load?
Machine takes care of it.
There's some serious technology here. They use a brushless DC motor to power the tub. Unusual,
considering there's AC right out of the wall. But this allows speed control without clutches or
pulleys, and since the motor is connected directly to the tub, there's no belt either. Energy Star?
Of course.
At the end of the cycle, it spins amazingly fast, and the clothes come out significantly drier
than you'd expect. Less work for the dryer to do. We have yet to generate a load the machine
couldn't handle.
Needless to say, I'm impressed.

Got one at Home Depot on sale. I've it for about 3 months now and so far I'm very happy with the performance. I use Costco HE soap (I've read this isn't the best soap) and most of the time I wash stuff on "NORMAL", warm water and double rinse (soap allergy.) If you wash big items (rugs, blankets, etc...) you MUST set the cycle to "BULKY". That way it will fill the tub up all the way like an old style washer.
I've read complaints from people that it doesn't get your clothes clean and my experience is that it gets them CLEANER than any washer I've used (that's three counting this one.) Even my girlfriend noticed and was impressed with it's cleaning ability. Compared to my old washer it's very quiet and it gets the clothes quite dry in the spin. My dryer time has decreased from an hour to 35 minutes. It also holds a lot of clothes compared to my old washer. It's not too tall and that makes it easier to load and unload compared to the old GE (70's, 80's model??) I had.
I did get the extended warranty because my research showed that modern washers have a 7% - 10% failure rate within the first five years. That's not too good, but you don't have much choice if you need a new washer. Anyway, mine hasn't broken down. I do about two loads a week. My understanding is that you must be very careful not to allow any small items to get in the wash because they'll get sucked into the pump and wreck it, so make sure to check all the clothes pockets before you wash! The manual has a note about this too. One other small note: The spin is really powerful and will really scrunch up the clothes. If you machine dry it's not a problem, but if you want to line dry them you might have problems getting them straightened out. You can reduce the spin power with the proper setting.

Sweetfilter Washing Machine Filter Lint Trap Can Double The Life of Septic Tank Systems Review

Sweetfilter Washing Machine Filter Lint Trap Can Double The Life of Septic Tank Systems
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ordered this filter product in hopes that it would attach better to our washing machine's hose that drains into a stationary tub and is then pumped. We have had issues in the past with our pump getting clogged with lint and hair which leads to leaks. The product certainly traps lint but the issue was keeping the filter attached to the hose. The velcro attachments do not hold well and once they get wet they are even less effective. The picture shows an orange zip tie and white filter however we received gray velcro bands and a black cloth filter (which made it harder to see the lint when cleaning). I also found that the filter was not easy to clean, the lint just sticks too well. This means you will have to replace the filter often. We are back to using nylon socks and attach with zip ties or a strong rubberband. They are also much easier to clean and seem to last longer for us. I would not recommend this product but it may work better for you.

Discharge water from a washing machine is laced with enough lint, hair, and non-biodegradable fibers to carpet your living room once a year. When it drains into a utility sink, the debris clogs the drainpipes and can destroy your septic tank leach field and treatment system. Our polyester bag traps lint before it enters the drain by fastening it over the end of the washer discharge hose. Replace it every 2-3 weeks or when bypass valve opens. Our LT-1 has a finer mesh to trap more fibers than any other filter tested. One package includes 1 lint trap and locking strap.

This washer is NOT the typical top loader agitator style washing machine. READ THE FURNISHED MANUAL AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!!!
We purchased this washer as part of a matched set along with the GE electric dryer GE GTDN500EMWS 27" Electric Dryer with 7.0 cu. ft. Capacity, Multiple Drying Cycles, 4 Heat Selections, Sensor Dry, Wrinkle Care, Stainless Steel Drum and Quiet-by-Design Performance. We are VERY happy with this washer dryer set as a matched pair!
My list of points to keep in mind with this dryer after our initial experiences:
1. READ THE FURNISHED MANUAL!!! And read plenty of reviews first!!
2. ALWAYS USE LIQUID HE DETERGENT for HIGH EFFICIENCY Washers!! Use anything else such as high sudsing powder detergent (is that really a word??) and you are likely to experience problems such as white detergent scum on the clothes!
3. Always add the appropriate amount of LIQUID HE DETERGENT, start the washer to begin water flow, then load and run as usual. (At least during our initial learning experience we used a small magnet to keep the switch activated so we can do this with the lid open - caution do NOT do this if you have cats, children or other small pets or absolutely anything else that can become harmed while the machine is running!!)
4. Do NOT expect to be able to add more clothes once the water level is set ie once the machine is running. The first time I tried this and restarted the washer it drained ALL the detergent water out first, then replenished the water level. Therefore my newly added liquid HE detergent was on TOP of the clothes, not down in the water where it belongs. LESSON LEARNED: just because it's a top loader, don't expect to add more clothes once the machine is running, same as a front loading washing machine more clothes cannot be added later once the machine is running and has water up on the seal of the door. (I called the GE answer center, they report once START is pushed clothes cannot be added to the washer at all since the auto-water-level sensing is the first aspect that completes.)
5. Noise level - this machine is a different technology than the old style agitator top loaders therefore makes a completely different sound when running and pauses during the cycle. It is not LOUDER than our old Amana, just different.
6. Balance - So far we have no experienced any balance issues, just be sure to load the wash AROUND the nubby "agitator", not on top of the agitator (same concept as a typical washer where you would NOT load clothes on top of the agitator either so on this machine just think of it as a shorter agitator!)
7. This washer has a stainless steel drum. This is a PLUS for dying clothes (I love to tie dye! - but I'm not certain this particular washer would be useful for dying clothes I will update once we try dying some items.)
8. Due to concerns with soap residue from ANY and ALL washers, we have always used the extra rinse (even with our old washer) and the extra spin (simply set the selector dial in between both). With this high efficiency unit we will be conserving more water than the typical household as this will save water on THREE fills, not just the typical two. If you are like us and have always used the extra rinse cycle, you will also experience further water use reduction.
As we have only washed a few loads and are still in the learning curve I will update this review in a few weeks once we have more experience.
Happy Washing!!
PS I gave this washer a FOUR star review simply due to trepidation over the learning curve on how to successfully load and run this washer - it simply is a different technology. If this machine proves itself over time I will likely upgrade this to a full FIVE star review. I could not give this washer five stars at this time since it is requiring a learning period which again is simply due to a different technology than the old standard agitator washers - and I somehow would feel better if there was an option to add MORE water... sometimes the amount of water just appears to be so low.. yet so far all the clothes are coming out perfectly clean.

LG : DLE2301R 27 Electric Dryer with 7.3 cu. ft. Capacity Wild Cherry Red Review

Our old washing machine broke a couple of months ago; and, even though we could have fixed it, we decided it was time to go with a new front loading washer & dryer instead. The main reason we wanted front loading machines was because of the space savings when stacked. After a week of research, we settled on either this LG model or the comparable Samsung - and we settled on the LG because it was just a bit less expensive.
At first we were a bit nervous about the height of the machines when stacked, but those fears were completely unfounded. I'm 5'9" and I can access both the washer and dryer with ease. As a quick reference, if you're worried about the height, the bottom of the dryer opening sits at 54" when stacked, the center of the dryer control knob sits at 76", and the top of the dryer is at 79".
Aside from the obvious space savings, here are the things we've really liked about this dryer:
1) It runs very quietly with no noticeable vibration. I was worried about this after reading reviews for other front loaders, but it hasn't been a problem at all - even with both the washer & dryer stacked and running at the same time.
2) The controls are intuitive and easy to use.
3) I like the estimated time remaining which gives a fairly good estimate for how much time is left for most loads. Although, it isn't always accurate and does reset itself repeatedly for some loads.
4) Both the washer & dryer are very high capacity units and we haven't found anything, including bedding, that won't fit.
5) I like that it senses obstructions in the dryer vent hose. I actually tested this out by jamming the hose, and it worked perfectly:).
The only thing I would change on the dryer is that the controls don't remember their previous settings. This can be a bit irritating since we use the same settings 95% of the time. Luckily they are easy to set, but you do need to reprogram it every time you turn it on.
Overall we are extremely pleased with this dryer. I guess time will tell if these hold up as well as our old washer & dryer did, but so far I'm pretty confident that they will. I highly recommend these if you're looking for a new front-loading washer and dryer.

We didn't buy this through Amazon.com, but got it at the Home Depot. It was on sale. We did all our research and found that Samsung won the JD Power award. However, we read reviews about Samsung not cleaning the clothes well. It was between Samsung and LG. We decided to go with LG. They came in 4th on JD Power, but had good reviews. Some reviews commented the vibration. They were right. When the machine is on rise cycle, it really vibrates. Hey, throw out the anti-vibration system because there isn't one when it is on this cycle. It might have been also attributed to being on the pedestal. It vibrates so so much that it shakes the dryer next to it, and they are not even touching each other. This is why I gave it a 4 rating. Also, another thing I didn't like was the door. It swings open, so it would bang against the table next to my washer. I heard that some other washers have a stiff opening that would stay as you open the door. This might be a minor thing. I also had a problem with the cycle itself. You can't stop and start the cycle. For instance, if you wanted to just run the spin mode, it won't let you do this. You have to run the whole cycle over again. Overall, I like the washer. It has simple control. The clothes come out clean. It has all the bells and whistles. I have not try the steam cycle yet, but I heard it's awesome. I'll let you know. Lastly, this washer looks really nice in our laundry room. I can't stop looking at it. This is like a work of art that you can't stop staring at it. Even with the good looks, I'm wondering how long this machine will last. We had a Whirlpool that lasted 9 years. I hope this LG will last 10 years and more.
